Dear everyday spender,

Explore the 1% cards as they diverge between set benefits and quarterly deals

Now, this is where your spending patterns intersect with your time, experience and good credit. In other words, it’s time to consider your choices. At the very minimum, we want you to be earning at least 1% on every single transaction. But, the choice, for your consideration, is whether to select a 1.5% or 2% card for everything, or a baseline of 1% with a higher percentage in other categories.

Here are a few examples of the fixed-rate set benefits, unless otherwise marked with the words “revolving quarterly deal.” Note: Most do have quarterly spending caps – Amex has an annual limit.

Bank of America’s Cash Rewards is unique in allowing users to choose, monthly, between the following 3% categories: gas, travel, home improvement, dining, drug stores, and online shopping. A user can choose 1 category per month, and change their category again on the 1st of the month.

For each deal, remember to read the terms and conditions carefully – be sure your particular merchants will be valid. For example: purchasing gasoline at grocery stores usually doesn’t qualify. This is your time to investigate!
